About
Joe Villeneuve has been designing Energy Efficient homes since 1980 when he graduated from Lawrence Institute of Technology in Southfield, Michigan (LIT is now called Lawrence Technical University) with a degree in Architecture. He formed Concepts in Design upon graduation falling back on the practical experience he gained in the residential and commercial design industry while still attending LIT/LTU. A large part of Joe’s experience in the form of hands on training in the field actually working for builders and trades people, learning what the real world dictates compared to what the classroom teaches. This combination of classroom and practical education has taught Joe how to design for the real world. One of his college professors used to say,
“If you can’t build it, don’t design it”.
This simple, but logical, wisdom has guided Joe throughout his career being applied to the obvious, as well as the not so obvious. For 10 years, Joe was the Featured Speaker at a national seminar produced in his home state of Michigan. The focus of this seminar was to teach homeowners how to be their own General Contractor and have an Energy Efficient home built…and why. The information presented during these workshops has been passed onto all of Joe’s Clients before and during the design process to great success.
